Canadian Soldier Wins Canada Day Xbox Party for Oromocto
Posted by justfred.ca on June 30th, 2008
Cpl. Robert Dehmel of Oromocto convinced Microsoft Canada that his town should be the location chosen to host the 2008 Canada Day Xbox Party with this entry:
Here in Oromocto, just 10 minutes out of our capital city, Fredericton, we have nothing but Canadian pride. Oromocto is a military town, 90% of its people are serving in the Armed Forces and we are stationed out of CFB Gagetown, which is the largest base in Canada. The last rotation to Afghanistan was all of our members at the base. When we got back from serving overseas (about 3000 soldiers) the town had decorated the city in yellow ribbons to welcome back the soldiers. There was a parade for us all and a Canadian Army band was playing as we all exited our aircrafts. This town has nothing but pride in our heritage and Canada. We all play war games on our Xbox 360's and are true gamers at heart. You would never find a town that would celebrate Canada day with as much enthusiasm. Below is an image of a Canadian Soldier (myself) on one of the highest peaks in Afghanistan holding the Canadian flag. Thanks Xbox.
Congratulations, Robert.
