Match Report
The FDSA CAPS created the better chances in the game, but failed to capitalize earning only a 1-1 tie with Saint John. Mario Riedel’s first half strike was cancelled out by an opportunistic gal from Callum Young in the second half.
The CAPS had the better of things in the early part of the game, but failed to create any good scoring chances. The introduction of Patrick Burtt seemed to bring some life to the squad as the CAPS penned the visitors into their own half. The CAPS earned a series of corners and free kicks, but had to wait until the 39th minute to open the scoring. A nice passing play between Brett Johnson and Jason Rouse made a yard of space for Mario Riedel and he thrashed the ball past the SJ keeper.
In the second half, Riedel, Hicks, Keys and Rouse all came close, but Matt Murphy in the SJ net made some outstanding saves. With 15 minutes left, a Saint John counter attack found Callum Young alone at the edge of the box and his first time strike was well hit into the corner of the net to tie the game up.
The CAPS continued to push forward, but to no avail. The next game for the CAPS will be on June 4th in Moncton.
