justFRED-0-GRAM C U In September
Posted by stephenb@smartypants.com on August 29th, 2008
The tents are going up on Officers Square for the annual craft show and
sale, the changing of the guard is nearly over for another year, the
gardens are in full bloom, there are musicial buskers on the streets in
downtown Fredericton, and there's construction just about everywhere.

http://justFRED.ca/

The craft show in Officers Square, the FREX is about to begin, and the
rest is here:

http://justfred.ca/justfred.forums/calendar.php

It's hard to believe that August is nearly over, but that's what the
calendar says...

So as the song says, we'll see you in September. And don't forget to Say
Cheese, Please.

Cheers,

George

justFRED-0-GRAM Last Thursday in August
Posted by jfnews@justFRED.ca on August 28th, 2008
We didn't have the heart to take photos of the teachers arriving at
local schools - counting down the last days of summertime freedom
seems cruel enough without a visual reminder. So we focused on
happier thoughts like Cindi's visit to the Butterfly House, Peter's
photos of pond life, the beginning of a photo series of the changing
of the guard, a visit to the folks at Hair Hunter's in King's Place,
and another visit to Changes, the non-profit store and learning
centre on Queen Street.

http://justFRED.ca/

The Society of St. Andrews Pipe Band in concert at the Barracks
tonight, the Fredericton Chamber's Annual Golf Tournament today, and
a lot of summer camps winding down...

http://justfred.ca/justfred.forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2008-8-28&c=1

So is our calendar thinning out? Yes. We're focusing our attention on
the new calendar, so that's where all of the newer events are going.
Transition's always a bit of a pain - and we're trying to make the
shift without breaking anything, or going crazy in the process.

Bear with us...and please, if you see us out and about with our
cameras, Say Cheese...

Cheers,

George

justFRED-0-GRAM Time Travel
Posted by jfnews@justFRED.ca on August 27th, 2008
The overnight temperature drops and, thinking it's cold, we look back
in time - one month at a time - to just six months ago - and realize
that 'cold' is a relative concept. So we're back in summertime
mode...including the full album of Peter's Dielissen's photos of pond
life.

http://justFRED.ca/

Weather permitting, Garage Mahal perform in the northside ampitheatre
this evening...check the calendar for this and other events...

justFRED isn't all that we do here...we actually spend much of our
time designing and building websites for other people. We hope to
have a couple of our latest projects to show off in the next few
days.

Cheers,

George

Media Release: South Side Sports & Leisure Complex Name Now to Include Nod to Buster Harvey
Posted by justfred.ca on August 26th, 2008
South Side Sports & Leisure Complex Name Now to Include Nod to Buster Harvey

Fredericton, NB – At the request of local hockey legend, Danny Grant, Fredericton City Council has decided to recognize the late Buster Harvey in the naming of the new South Side Sports and Leisure Complex.

While the exact naming details are to be finalized, it was generally agreed that the facility will include the names of “Grant” and “Harvey”.  Appropriate recognition of their hockey achievements will be placed in the facility.

“Mr. Grant approached City Council with a heartfelt request to honour his late, great friend,” said Mayor Brad Woodside.  “There is no doubt that Buster Harvey was a great hockey player and a great Frederictonian.”

The idea of associating the name of the late Buster Harvey with the complex has got a nod of approval from the citizen’s committee who originally suggest naming Fredericton’s new arena complexes after Willie O’Ree and Danny Grant.  Mrs. Harvey is supportive of the name change.

More photos from the weekend Worship in the Square, photos and video
from the gala concert wrapping up the NB Summer Music fest, from the
market, from a rainy Monday and more.

The summer camps are coming to an end, and among the last of the free
concerts in the park. If you haven't attended this summer...time's
running out.

We're still working our way through concert video - 8 hours of tape
is a lot of material to go through. But one of the best things about
the web is the ability for you to see and hear local and visiting
performers.

And don't be afraid to tell us what you like - or don't like - about
