justFRED-O-GRam May is Not Winter – Really
Posted by on May 30th, 2008
They say there are two things you can count on in life: death and
taxes. Add to that Maritime weather. The forecast yesterday called
for a bright, sunny day. What it didn't say was complete lots of
cloud, cold winds and topped off with a FROST warning. At the end of

OK - so on to the albums: our concert photographer Melanie Gordon

night of the Maritime Countryfest, we have photos from the streets,
photos from Rome (yes, Rome), another critter, memories of Lobster on
the Lawn 2007, and much more.

Blues Band fundraiser for Business Fredericton North @ The Plex

justFRED-0-GRAM Weekend Blues?
Posted by on May 29th, 2008
The weather office says we have two beautiful days ahead of us -
followed by a rainy weekend. But at least the temperatures will be in
the double digits right through to Monday. So enjoy the sunshine while
it lasts...

In the galleries today, shots from the concert at the Kinsmen Centre
(two bands and the fans), spring flowers, smiling faces, and more.

In the calendar today, the FHS music department's spring concert this
evening, the Fredericton Garden Club's spring auction, and a whole lot

And a tip o' the hat to our friends at the Carleton FreePress in
Woodstock, winners of the Canadian Association of Journalists
President's Award for outstanding contribution to Canadian
journalism. Not bad for a publication that first hit the street less
than six months ago.

See you out and about. And don't forget - Say Cheese, Please!

justFRED-0-GRAM $#*@ Computers
Posted by on May 28th, 2008
Turn your back for a minute, and they take matters into their own
hands. The justFRED-0-GRAM lined up to go out first thing this
morning was the victim of an overnight software update that
automatically restarted the main computer - and decided to delete the

So, once again, this time with gusto: In the galleries today, more
boys of summer, signs of spring, Pogey @ Dolans Pub, and more.

justFRED-0-GRAM It Must Be Summer If…
Posted by on May 27th, 2008
The signs are all there... flowers in full bloom everywhere, the sound
of baseball in the park. And you'll find those and other images plus
another excerpt from Theresa Malenfant's Saturday blues concert in
the photo and video albums today.

In the calendars, if you missed Measha last week, she's in concert
with Symphony New Brunswick tonight at Wilmot United Church, or you
could learn how to start a garden, or learn how to take better photos
of your exiting garden.

Or you could just go for a walk on this beautiful spring day and, if
you see us out about about, please don't forget to Say Cheese!

justFRED-0-GRAM Rainy Monday
Posted by on May 26th, 2008
As predicted, a busy weekend that resulted in a lot of new material
going into the albums. We have photos from three of the four
premiership season openers for the Fredericton District Soccer
Association, photos and videos of the Gala Goodbye by the Fredericton
SchoolGirl Choir with Measha and Jeremy Van Slyke, the Catastrophic
Event & Auction, the annual plant sale @ the Boyce Farmers' Market,
photos and a video of Theresa Malenfant @ The James Joyce Pub, our
usual Saturday @ The Maket visit, and more...

There are all kinds of activities in the calendars for this week -
from library events to concerts to book sales...

Don't know if you've noticed, but over the past couple of weeks,
we've been moving justFRED to a new server...and we've certainly
noticed an increase in speed, especially for larger files such as
videos. There's a growing issue with the download time of the home
page, but we're aware of it and working on a solution this week.

Meantime, enjoy the final week of May...becuase summer is officially
just around the corner.

Match Report

The FDSA CAPS created the better chances in the game, but failed to capitalize earning only a 1-1 tie with Saint John.  Mario Riedel’s first half strike was cancelled out by an opportunistic gal from Callum Young in the second half.

The CAPS had the better of things in the early part of the game, but failed to create any good scoring chances.  The introduction of Patrick Burtt seemed to bring some life to the squad as the CAPS penned the visitors into their own half.  The CAPS earned a series of corners and free kicks, but had to wait until the 39th minute to open the scoring.  A nice passing play between Brett Johnson and Jason Rouse made a yard of space for Mario Riedel and he thrashed the ball past the SJ keeper.

In the second half, Riedel, Hicks, Keys and Rouse all came close, but Matt Murphy in the SJ net made some outstanding saves.  With 15 minutes left, a Saint John counter attack found Callum Young alone at the edge of the box and his first time strike was well hit into the corner of the net to tie the game up.

The CAPS continued to push forward, but to no avail.  The next game for the CAPS will be on June 4th in Moncton.
