We've been working hard to finish our online directory - and hope to have the soft launch tonight or tomorrow. There are bound to be broken bits, but we'll fix them as we go.

This is the start of a new phase for justFRED: providing a valuable service to the business community that can also help provide the financial support that we need to bring our members the features, contests, events and information you've told us you want.

We're hoping that our new outdoor sign will be ready to mount on the side of our downtown office building sometime this week - and are preparing to launch a series of contests with a Valentine's Day theme.

We're still cleaning up the problem caused by the prizes provided by a company that closed its doors on Christmas Eve. We only found out after we began trying to give away the fourth gift certificate.

As of today, we've been in touch with all of the winners involved and they've agreed to either wait while we seek a similar prize, or have chosen a replacement.

What a day...the largest snowflakes I've ever seen fairly obliterated the scene and made it impossible for the planned helicopter flyover. So the military switched to a couple of bucket trucks to get their photographer and cameraman above the soccer field at CFB Gagetown where several thousand soldiers and civilians congregated to make a human Canadian flag.

Lots of families - civilian and military.

The 2nd Chance New Year's fundraiser for the Fredericton Emergency Shelter was a sellout for the third straight year - with 500 tickets sold for the event presented by The Delta and featuring Donnie & The Monarchs.

The top request in our poll last month: more contests. Contests require prizes, and it only makes sense to seek out the prizes that interest you most.

Pots of gold and bags of diamonds would be nice, but we're more likely to be able to get free meals, toys, gadgets, free passes, computer software, books, etc.
